Review & approvals
Comments turn an artifact into something people can review: leave a note on the exact spot, hand it to someone, close it when it’s done, and sign off on the version that’s ready.
Pin a comment to a spot
Section titled “Pin a comment to a spot”- Open the comments panel in the artifact viewer and choose Pin to page.
- The panel closes and the artifact stays fully readable, with a pin cursor and a hint: “Click where you want to leave a comment · Esc to cancel”.
- Click the spot. A small composer opens right there. Click somewhere else to move the pin; it follows the page as you scroll.
- Write your comment and send it.
Press Esc, hit Cancel, click outside the artifact, or move to another page or tab to stop placing the pin. If the comment can’t be posted, the panel opens with your text so nothing is lost.
Work through comments
Section titled “Work through comments”The Comments tab in the Inspector on Home is where review happens:
- Open / All — show only unresolved threads, or everything.
- Resolve / Reopen — close a thread once it’s handled, or bring it back.
- Assign — pick someone from the people on this artifact. They get a notification (unless you assign yourself) and the thread shows an Assigned to chip. Unassign clears it.
- on vN — a comment written on an older version than the live one shows which version it was on, so you know the artifact may have changed since.
Approve a version
Section titled “Approve a version”In Details, Approve this version records that you signed off on the live version. Withdraw approval takes it back. Approvals are a record, not a gate: publishing still works without them.
History shows each version’s comment count and approvals, so you can see at a glance which version was reviewed and by whom. See Version history.
Who can review
Section titled “Who can review”Resolving, assigning and approving need comment access to the artifact. You have it if you are:
- the owner, or a collaborator on it (any level);
- a member of the workspace, when the artifact is visible to the workspace or public;
- someone it was shared with at the Comment level, for example a client.
Viewing alone is not enough: people with View access, or a signed-in stranger on a public artifact, can’t resolve, assign or approve.
What’s next
Section titled “What’s next”- Work together — invite people to edit or view.
- Comments SDK — build comments into your own artifact.
